8BALL DRIVE-THROUGH

PLAYING CARDS & BOX DESIGN

8Ball Drive-Through is a school project where we were to design playing cards as a way of challenging us to create hierarchy. One of the restrictions for this project was to not use any numbers to indicate which card is higher in status.

I themed my cards with two of my loves, fast food and billiards. To create hierarchy, I made the side items of fast food chains be the first few cards, followed by dessert, popular main menu items, and then the face cards being customers, employees, and the mascots of their respective food chain. I also added a pool ball to each pocket as each card gets higher in status. Another slightly more obvious indication of hierarchy is the use of the fast food chain's logo and how many times it is shown on the card.

Here are two suits featured in my card set. Along with designing the playing cards, I also designed a box to hold the cards in. Both the cards and the box are designed to resemble a pool table from an aerial view.
